Red Rock Canyon NCA Education Program FY 09/10


	Red Rock Canyon NCA Education Program update for FY 09/10 We will be taking ALL applications for the next school year from June 1, 2009- Sept 15th, 2009. If you are interested in coming to Red Rock Canyon anytime in the next school year. Priority will be given to teachers who have completed the Explore the Great Outdoors Teacher's workshop prior to turning in their applications. Applications can be obtained by emailing or calling. Kaugust@blm.gov or 515-5374 Sunday- Fridays. The next Explore the Great Outdoors Teacher’s Workshop will be October 4^th and November 7^th, 2009. Sign-ups will be available through the PDE office/ Focus for those wishing to obtain PDE credit. On-line applications will be available beginning August 25^th, 2009. Teachers who have completed the EGO workshop can apply for the Friends of Red Rock Canyon Transportation Scholarship. Applications for the scholarship, good for 1 CCSD bus or up to $300 in private bus fees will be available on-line beginning July 1^st, 2009. Only one bus per location will be scheduled. Teachers planning to take students on the trails MUST have COMPLETTED EXPLORE THE GREAT OUTDOORS (E.G.O.) prior to sending in applications. Teachers utilizing Rangers for programs are NOT required to have taken the workshop, although it is strongly encouraged. Only one bus per location will be scheduled. New Visitor Center coming soon to Red Rock Canyon !!. Beginning December 2009, a new Visitor Center is expected to be open. This will include expanded opportunities for school groups and other visitors. Keep posted to see our official opening date.
